Covaleda can be found in the provincial area of Soria, in the Autonomous Community of Castille and León, Spain, in the Pinares comarca. It is situated in the so called “Green Zone” between the Sierra de Urbión to the north and the Sierra del Resomo to the south. Here is where you will find the ‘Campamento Juvenil Raso de la Nava’, our campsite, with excellent facilities to host a large-scale event such as that of Jamscout.
The municipality of Covaleda can be found between the foothills of the Sierra de Urbión and the Sierra de Resomo, in the province of Soria. It is situated at 1.214 metres above sea level, so don’t forget to bring warm clothes! Covaleda is approximately 241 kilometres or 2 ½ hours from Madrid, however, don’t worry about how you are going to get there. The price of the camp includes transport and the organisation of this will be done by Scouts MSC.
Just a few hours walk away is the Pico Urbión, the highest point in the area at an altitude of 2,228 metres, and will be one of the most essential excursions in which the participants can enjoy.
The great density of vegetation, the natural and cultural diversity, as well as the richness of the flora and fauna, has made this zone part of the ‘Protected Natural Space of Sierra de Urbión’ within the Regional Hunting Reserve of Urbión.
Common Pine woodland occupies the campsite, with the exception of the extensive central camp area which is hundreds of metres in diameter and where we will set-up our main camping area.
The area that surrounds Covaleda also has Beech, Oak and Birch trees, as well as many other species, which contribute to this area being incredible and unique.
Make sure to pack swimwear and a towel in your backpack, as barely 300 metres from the campsite is the River Duero, which will be one of the activity zones for everyone during the hot days.
Although during the daytime in July, temperatures will be high, at night, it can drop to as low as 5°C, so don’t forget to pack warm clothes for night-time and sun lotion for the day-time.
